Time was ticking by slowly in the silence of dawn. Fiona packed her bag and made her way downstairs. It was 5 o' clock in the morning and only the sounds of the birds chirping could be heard. She wrote a letter, and slipped it under her parents' bedroom door. With her handkerchief tightly clutched in her hand, she looked for the backdoor key. Fiona had longed for freedom. She stepped out of the door, and went away silently, without her parents knowing.

Fiona was leaving home with a man whom she barely knew. She met the guy through the internet and she only knew him for 2 days. He was a motor-guy, and Fiona believed that he could give her happiness throughout her life. But Fiona did not know that behind a beautiful face, lies a deceiving man who was out to con women.

Back in the house, her parents were awake. Fiona's mother found a note, slipped under the door. While reading the note, she stood still, tears flowing down her face. She breaks down. She cried to her husband, not believing that their beloved daughter was gone, "Why would she do this to us? Why did she treat us so thoughtlessly?"

She met the guy at the petrol kiosk, as promised at 9 in the morning. With the man, they went away leaving her parents, worrying for her. They had sacrificed their lives for her, and gave her everything money could buy. They lived happily, till one day, Fiona had spent all her money and he left her. Then, did Fiona realise that he was just a man who went around cheating women of their money. He was not the least interested in her. She realise that she was a fool, leaving her parents, thinking that the man whom she barely knew would give her happiness.

While Fiona is lost in a deserted area, back at home, her parents were frantically looking around for her. They made several police reports and pasted posters all around town about the disappearance of their daughter. They were worried sick about her, and hoped for her to return. They stayed up every night, with the thought of Fiona returning. But she never did.

Fiona was all alone in a deserted area, with no one that she knew. She was clueless about what to do next. All her money was gone, and she was starving. She stood by the road, hoping that a kind soul would bring her home. But, it was late at night, and there were no cars passing by. She was shivering, starving and thirsting. Suddenly, everything went blank all of a sudden.

Fiona opened her eyes. Right beside her were her parents, sleeping at the side of the bed. She looked around her surroundings, taking a moment to realise that she was in hospital. She was back home again. She was glad.

Her parents were relieved to see her, safe and sound. They started asking her a million questions, which Fiona did not know which to answer first. She found out that a man had found her lying by the roadside and brought her to a nearest hospital. That was how she was saved, and she was thankful to that man who saved her. Looking at her parents' worried faces, she could tell that her parents had lost weight. They had dark eye rings. She realised that she was a fool to leave home just because of that con man. She regretted, and promised her parents not to do it, ever again.
