"Tick tock, Tick tock.." the clock struck five. Jane woke up, took her luggage that was prepared the night before and a letter for her parents. Jane slowly slipped the letter underneath her parents' bedroom door. Jane considered again whether she should leave.

"Yes, I should! I want to be free!" Jane thought angrily at the way her parents had treated her in the past. They did not give her love at all. They spent so much of their time working!

Jane grabbed the key and went out, locking the door silently, careful not to awake her parents. Jane stood outside, took a deep breath of fresh air.

"I'm free!" Jane thought excitedly. Jane took a last look of the house she had been living for years, alone. The bus horned, snapped her out of her thoughts. Jane ran towards the bus, smiled at the future that awaits her. Jane took a seat beside the window. She stared out the window as the bus moved. She saw the familiar towns and streets, wondering if she made the right decision. Her thoughts flew back to her parents. She wondered how her parents would react to the letter.

"I bet they won't even care!" she thought grumpily. Jane's parents were considered quite rich, they were always working hard and seldom spent time with Jane. They gave her everything money could buy but that is not what Jane wanted. She wanted love and freedom.

Jane was so engrossed in her thoughts that she did not notice someone sitting beside her. It was a familiar face, she noticed that the person was her long lost friend. They smiled to each other and chatted happily. As the guy was leaving soon, he suggested that they meet up at the motor trade the following day to have fun together.

Mother woke up and put on her dressing gown, to go to the kitchen to prepare for breakfast. As she opened her bedroom door, she saw a white envelope with a letter in it. She opened it up and read it. It read: "Dear Mum and Dad, I'm sorry. I'm leaving home. I can't stand staying here anymore. Bye bye."

Mum's jaws dropped as tears streamed down her eyes. Mum ran and shook her husband hysterically.

“ Wake up! Wake up! Our baby’s gone!” Jane’s mum shouted as she cried.

“What?!” Jane’s father shouted, jumping out of the bed. He snatched the letter that Jane’s mum was clutching and read it. He was shocked but managed to face the reality and comforted his wife.

Jane’s mum was feeling a little better so she went to the motor trade to collect Jane’s motorcar for memorysake. She was shocked to see Jane there too. Jane was happy to see the guy from the motor trade opposite the road. She was too anxious to meet him and without looking for oncoming cars, she dashed across the road.

Just then, a speeding concrete truck ran over Jane. Jane was completely flattened by the concrete truck. Jane’s mum saw the incident and broke down. She was stunned and tears rolled down her cheek as she ran towards her beloved daughter.

“No! Jane!” Jane’s mum cried hysterically as she shouted. Jane was leaving home for real, never coming back…

Alicia thought and thought, wondering if her decision was right. She was leaving the people who gave her life. She recalled as her tears rolled down her cheeks. She was quarrelling with her parents over a guy from the motor trade whom she was so devoted to. She left a note to bid farewell and stepped down the stairs as she prepared to elope with the love of her life even with her parents' disapproval.

Wednesday morning at five as the day began, Alicia closed the bedroom door behind her silently, hoping the note that she left behind for her parents would be enough to let them understand her more. She crept downstairs to the kitchen, clutching the handkerchief her mother gave her when she was only nine. Quietly, she turned to the backdoor as she walked reluctantly. Turning the backdoor knob, the creaking sound she would hear every morning was to be heard for the last time. Stepping outside, she was finally free, free from all the disapprovals her parents gave.

Father snored as his wife got up to change into her dressing gown. She picked up the note left on the floor. She broke down and cried as she read her daughter's last letter. Father held her in his arms. She wept as she said: "Daddy! Our baby's gone, how could our daughter do this to me, how could she leave us so thoughtlessly?"

We sacrificed most of our lives. We gave her everything money could buy. She was leaving home after living alone for so many years. She was having fun. Fun is something money could not buy. She was doing something inside that was always denied. We never had a thought for ourselves, we struggled hard through many years to get by. We did not know what we did that was wrong. We never knew we were in the wrong.

Next day, Mother left home at nine to catch the appointment she made with another guy from the motor trade. Poor father was left all alone by his daughter and wife so heartlessly. How could they do that to him, what did he do that was wrong. He was so upset that he suffered from depression and ended in a hospital. Now, nobody's home.

Jane was a local city girl who was always at home, her parents forbid her to go out for fun, afraid of bad influence. She was like this for almost a few years.

At the wee hours of Wednesday morning, she woke up, knowing it was time for her to leave. After getting ready, she silently closed the bedroom door. She left the note that she hoped would explain everything to her parents outside her room. Tears silently trickled down her rosy cheeks.

She went downstairs holding her handkerchief. Quietly, she opened the backdoor, once she stepped outside, freedom engulfed her mind. She felt a twitch of joy. later, Jane's mother noticed the note, read it and broke down suddenly. It was too late. Jane had left…

Friday morning at dawn, she was far away. She wanted to sell her motorbike to a motorbike dealer. Her parent's attempt to find her was futile. Tried as they might, but all was in vain. Jane was miles away. "Was it hopeless?" they moaned in their mind…

Jane used the money to go abroad and was a stranger there in the wild. She was vulnerable. Unsure where she exactly was or what to do, she was not able to define who meant harm or who meant well.

Time flew, and night soon arrived. That was the moment, the time when Jane first felt the tingle of raw fear. Someone was following her but she did not know who. Spasms of chill trickled down her spine. Scared as she was, she had to find out who. She mustered the last of her courage and wheeled around and screamed.

What came to her eyes were totally unpredictable. Standing there were two souls and they were familiar.

"How did you find me!" she questioned in disgust. They were the last people she wanted to meet.

"We gained the information of your location from the motorbike man. We were really sorry about how we treated you in the past and we will definitely promise you freedom from now on. Please come home," they pleaded.

"Are you sure?" Jane's heart softened, as much as she despised her parents, her heart was still with them. With that three souls held hands together and went home happily ever after.

On the way home the cab they were in met with an accident. Jane's mother and father were unharmed but Jane was badly injured. Again they waited for her recovery and waited and waited for her to return to them…

The rusty-old clock struck 5 o'clock. It was a Wednesday morning, Misty could never have forgotten that day. It was the day her daughter left home. It was a traumatic experience for her. All that was left was her daughter's note. It read, "I'm leaving. Mother, I'm sorry…"

Misty woke up with a start. Something was wrong but she didn’t know what. She saw a letter lying on the floor, and she wondered what it was. She approached it, and realised it was hand-written by her daughter. She wondered why her own daughter would write her a letter. Picking it up, she saw the first two words, "I'm leaving." Her heart skipped a beat. She rushed to wake her husband, in tears…

Friday morning at 9 o'clock, Misty stood at the motor trade, waiting for the man she met two months ago. She never thought she would fall for him; not to mention eloping. At the first sight of each other, a feeling sparkled in both of them, and that's when she knew she could no longer stay at home, what would her own husband think?

Later in the afternoon, Misty's daughter was out there enjoying herself. Her parents had denied her chance of having fun when she was home. She felt a sense of freedom. Bracing herself, she picked up her bags in no hesitation and stepped into the unknown world. She did not regret her decision to leave. Before leaving, she said to herself, "Bye mother. Bye father. Bye home."

When she entered the unknown world, she saw her mother, with another man. "What about father? Where is he? Why isn't she with him? Who is that man? How did mother know this man? When did she know this man?" Questions flooded her mind. Tears flowed down, as she thought to herself. She could never look at her mother the same way she used to. Looking at the embracing couple, her resolution hardened. She was no longer part of that household. Whatever they did was no longer of her concern. However, as much as she tried not to, a part of her still cried at night.

The soft thump in a distance awoke Jane. She tiredly pulled herself out of bed while putting on her dressing gown. She was curious of where the sound came from. Behind the door, she spotted a white slip of paper. She picked it up and was stunned beyond words. The slip of paper fell from her hands. She couldn't believe it. "Dear! Dear! Our daughter! She left us!" She cried as she shook her husband vigorously.

Our darling daughter is gone! She has left us for a young man, she's... gone!" Jane was crying uncontrollably. Her husband, Larry slowly opened his eyes. "What?" he managed a soft whisper, he was still half asleep. Jane cried, "Amy ran away from home!" He jolted upright. "Where? How? Why?" he cried. Jane, with tears streaming down her face, explained how the previous argument between her and Amy probably made her leave home. Amy desired freedom; she had been confined to her own boundaries for way too long.

Larry was shocked with silence, how could such a thing have happened. He was close to tears, but he had to put up a strong front. He was not to cry, he held Jane in his arms, consoling her though he was still in a daze. All this was like a nightmare to him. What was he to do now?

The morning silence was broken by uncontrollable sobs, the couple was drowned in sorrow and loneliness. Larry let out a soft sigh, trying his best not to show that he's upset. A soft 'click' came from downstairs, someone was unlocking the door. Larry held his breath, "a robber perhaps?" He left Jane in the bedroom and went down the stairs with a bat in his hands. He slowly crept down the stairs; it was so quiet that he could practically hear his heartbeat. He heard the refrigerator door open. He inched closer, he gripped the bat tightly.

"Morning dad, I bought you breakfast from the market. Is mum awake yet?" Amy chirped cheerfully. Larry rubbed his eyes in disbelief. Right in front of him, stood his beloved daughter. His heart seemed to skip a beat; he ran towards Amy and gave her a big hug. "Darling! Come on down, Amy came back!" He called to Jane. Jane ran downstairs; she came to an abrupt stop when she saw Amy. "But…the paper…" Larry questioned as he picked up the slip of paper. He laughed, as he read it.

To: mum and dad. I left for the market. Sorry for not informing you sooner.

The sun was creeping in mysteriously from the east horizon. The morning was misty cold and hardly bright. Eerie silence was broken by the joyful chirpings of the birds. People were sleeping soundly on their cosy beds. It was five o'clock on Wednesday morning as the day began. Hopes of brand new day were raise. Silently closing her bedroom door. Eve left a note that she hoped would say no more.

She left home with tears in her eyes and only some money with her. Being young and pampered, she was unfamiliar with the cruel society. In order to survive on, she had no choice but to work and earn money. Walking on the streets helplessly, she saw the "assistant help" plaque being placed outside a clothing shop. She decided to give it a try. She went for the interview and passed! She started working but due to her young age, she was constantly bullied by the shop owner.

Soon, a guy was hired months later. He was Adam, two years older than her with the perfect look every girl would wish for. Immediately, love at first sight occurred. They started dating but not to the girl's knowing that he was a flirt. He had two other girlfriends beside Eve. Soon, Eve found out and her heart was torn into pieces. She broke up with him and was left helpless.

Then, she was totally lost. She felt as though the whole world had let her down. She was tired, both physically and mentally. She broke down, crying her heart out. She quitted her job and was left with not even a single cent. She thought of getting revenge on Adam but after much thought, she decided not to, due to the consequences. She promised herself to start afresh.

After six months of surviving alone, she realised she was still dependent on her parents and could not live without them. She needs their love and concern after all. In the end, she went back home to apologise. "Daddy and Mummy, I am so sorry for leaving without telling you in person and for making you worry about me. I am so unfilial, please forgive me," she pleaded with tears running down her rosy red cheeks. She was soon forgiven and they were back to the happy family.

Time was ticking by slowly in the silence of dawn. Fiona packed her bag and made her way downstairs. It was 5 o' clock in the morning and only the sounds of the birds chirping could be heard. She wrote a letter, and slipped it under her parents' bedroom door. With her handkerchief tightly clutched in her hand, she looked for the backdoor key. Fiona had longed for freedom. She stepped out of the door, and went away silently, without her parents knowing.

Fiona was leaving home with a man whom she barely knew. She met the guy through the internet and she only knew him for 2 days. He was a motor-guy, and Fiona believed that he could give her happiness throughout her life. But Fiona did not know that behind a beautiful face, lies a deceiving man who was out to con women.

Back in the house, her parents were awake. Fiona's mother found a note, slipped under the door. While reading the note, she stood still, tears flowing down her face. She breaks down. She cried to her husband, not believing that their beloved daughter was gone, "Why would she do this to us? Why did she treat us so thoughtlessly?"

She met the guy at the petrol kiosk, as promised at 9 in the morning. With the man, they went away leaving her parents, worrying for her. They had sacrificed their lives for her, and gave her everything money could buy. They lived happily, till one day, Fiona had spent all her money and he left her. Then, did Fiona realise that he was just a man who went around cheating women of their money. He was not the least interested in her. She realise that she was a fool, leaving her parents, thinking that the man whom she barely knew would give her happiness.

While Fiona is lost in a deserted area, back at home, her parents were frantically looking around for her. They made several police reports and pasted posters all around town about the disappearance of their daughter. They were worried sick about her, and hoped for her to return. They stayed up every night, with the thought of Fiona returning. But she never did.

Fiona was all alone in a deserted area, with no one that she knew. She was clueless about what to do next. All her money was gone, and she was starving. She stood by the road, hoping that a kind soul would bring her home. But, it was late at night, and there were no cars passing by. She was shivering, starving and thirsting. Suddenly, everything went blank all of a sudden.

Fiona opened her eyes. Right beside her were her parents, sleeping at the side of the bed. She looked around her surroundings, taking a moment to realise that she was in hospital. She was back home again. She was glad.

Her parents were relieved to see her, safe and sound. They started asking her a million questions, which Fiona did not know which to answer first. She found out that a man had found her lying by the roadside and brought her to a nearest hospital. That was how she was saved, and she was thankful to that man who saved her. Looking at her parents' worried faces, she could tell that her parents had lost weight. They had dark eye rings. She realised that she was a fool to leave home just because of that con man. She regretted, and promised her parents not to do it, ever again.

Developing complications with rising actions

Review

The song 'She's Leaving Home' sung by the Beatles had been used to develop complications.

Below are the videos taken from the Youtube website that had been shown in class.

This one is my favourite.
